Good day guys, All the best for 2025 and beyond!
Attached are the T/S Parameters of a newly available 12 inch speaker/brand in my part of the planet. It contains specifics that fall within the recommended parameters of the DR280 plans EXCEPT for the Vas (it's also not listed in liters but in cubic decimeters)
Brand: Spec-5
Model: 12X1200
fs: 50Hz
Qts: .41
xmax: 6mm
Vas: 43 dm3
Would this speaker be safe to use in the DR 280 cabinet?
Equipment in my rack are the dbx DriveRack 260 and a Crown XTI 4000 amplifier (dsp disabled)
Thanks in advance.

A Dm3 is a liter. Vas doesn't matter all that much so long as it isn't grossly large. I would be wary of an unknown driver brand.

None of the recommended speakers in the plans are available over here and due to their weight and mass they are very expensive to ship and the few that are within specs {Big name Brands} are ridiculously expensive, so in my case I gotta use what's available until I'm able to afford the ideal ones. My system will improve as I progress for sure. So far I got a pair of DR280s and a pair of T48s.

Have you tried getting PRV from Brazil? The PRV 12MB1000FT is a good looking driver.

There is a dealer over here and just this morning I contacted him about the cost and availability of the 12MB1000ft, 12W800a for the DR280 and the 15SW2000 and 15W1000v2 for the T48s. He said he'd get back to me with the info and yeahhhhh 11 hours later I'm still waiting like Mr. Bean. While browsing the net after waiting for about 2 hours for a reply I found the Spec5 brand. They've {Spec5} got a 15 inch that falls within the T48 parameters but I'd leave that for the Tuba/Titan section.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 5:31 pm Have you tried getting PRV from Brazil? I'd pass on those Spec-5 drivers. The listed address for them of 200 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn is an apartment building. The actual source is probably China, the quality is probably poor.
