I'm getting itchy close to starting a couple builds and will be using my garage as ground zero. It's a 3 car garage but I'll be using the 2-car bay. My junk will get pushed to the single car side and vehicle moved to the driveway. Since I will be making lots of dust and have various types of machinery I don't wanna get dust on, I'd like to setup a temporary "wall". Essentially just putting up some plastic that can be taken down when not being used. I've looked at the store bought varieties, but I'm cheap and I don't really care for them....because I'm cheap. I do have a roll of 6mil visqueen that I can hang from the ceiling to the floor. FYI I will have the garage door closed while working as a courtesy for the neighbors (I like watching tv and playing music in my garage. Plus I enjoy my privacy). I don't think I need a shop air filter because I have a high quality respirator and will be using a cyclone dust collector. Any ideas or tips for garage woodwork in a multipurpose space?

Leave the door open, it doesn't stop that much noise. When using my table saw, miter saw or router I set up my shop blower to blow the sawdust out the door as I'm cutting.

I'm not sure what you've got laying around. But, if it were me, I'd absolutely use the visqueen you already have, and if I had a small stack of spare 2x2's or 2x4's, I'd probably Bang a footer on the floor with a couple Ramset's per length used and even add a couple vertical framing studs every 3 - 4 feet or so if I felt it would improve securing the visqueen and make it more likely to stay where I wanted it. Would probably only take a bundle of 2x2's and an hour or so to do a really decent job on it and be really easy to break down when the project is completed.

Just a thought.

I was thinking about screwing 2x4s on the ceiling to hold the top of the visqueen then just laying 2x4s on top of it on the ground. It'll make it taunt enough for my needs and I'll be able to roll it up when not needed.

Sounds like a slick solution. Especially being able to roll it up and use it any time you want. I like it!
