Hello from Toulouse - France

#1 Post by bass30et1 »

Hello,
I' m based on the pink city: Toulouse in France.
I play double bass in a blues duet: singer/folk guitar and so myself on acoustic double bass.

I found back the Bill drawing pack bought like 10 years, and need today to go back to business :hyper: .

We play on around 50 people pubs and around 100 people outside places.

I understand DR200/250 are the most adapted tops as listeners are close to us.
Do we need subs for the inside lives?
And witch sub for outside?

Thanks for your help,
Cheers

Manu

Hey Manu, I'm Seth. Welcome (back)!

For those size venue's and crowds, I'd highly recommend the SLA Pro. Up sides are that it's more compact than the DR's, easier to transport and less obtrusive visually in smaller venue's. Down sides are that it costs more to build and requires about 4 time the power for any given volume. With either the SLA Pro or DR designs, I'd only go without a sub for an acoustic guitar and singer type of gig. If you need bass from the system, you'll need subs with those cabs. I recommend a couple T39's. Optionally, you could build a Jack and possibly forego the need for subs, depending on the volume you're looking for.
Build in process - 2 WH6, one Alpha 6a loaded, one PRV Audio 6MB250-NDY loaded

Two 2x6 shorty SLA Pro's
One T39, 16", 3012LF loaded
Tall AutoTuba, 20" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
TruckTuba, 8½" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
