Truck or autotuba?

Hello guys. Another project, another question

New driver, new car and new enclosure build. Having already built the truck tuba to maximum width for a 10" driver, i am thinking about its tolerances for high cone travel in regards to chuffing, as described before in other posts when using a driver with high powerhandling and a high xmax. The driver on hand is the

Will the autotuba tolerate the depth of this driver, and if so, dos the autotuba horn tolerate more cone travel than the truck tuba before problems with air movement get to be to much? Would increasing the truck tuba width, say to 12-14 inches help in this case? Just wondering about different possibilities and limitations.

There's no need for drivers with super long excursion in a horn. That surround would make it extremely difficult to fit into an AutoTuba. It also reduces the cone area considerably.

Thanks. Vd is high dough. Would increasing the widh of the truck tuba help in any way with the drivers increased capacity? I really like the truck tuba and it fits my car nicely. could buld it wider if needed.

Are you trying to improve something that was previously insufficient? If so, what specifically would you like to see an improvement in?

Or, is it more a case of wanting to maximize the build results?

I put 2 MCM 8's in an 8½" wide TrT and I did get very mild chuffing that sounded like a cloths dryer vent. Audible in the garage, but 100% inaudible in the car. I highly doubt you'd ever hear any level of chuffing in the vehicle, just because at that point the SPL of the sub would completely cover up any amount of chuffing.

Just a matter of maximum output, headroom, curiosity and liking the beefy driver is all. It sounds fine as is.

I've only use the MCM and haven't felt the need to upgrade drivers. Although, there's also a few high Xmax drivers that I fantasize about trying too. I don't think I'll get around to actually trying any. If you do, please share your results and impressions here.

Ultimately, I am satisfied enough with the MCM that I feel completely confident in recommending it over more expensive drivers. My feeling is, you're likely to gain more output with a second MCM driver and building as wide as possible than you are with a single high Xmax driver.
