Truck Tuba open air pontoon boat?

I built a THT-LP awhile ago and absolutely love it. We have a 27' pontoon boat with a lounge style captains seat, I am constantly sitting up or standing to see over passengers in the front. I had an idea awhile ago to build a truck tuba which almost matches the size of the roto-mold plastic base, I could place the Truck Tuba on the floor and seat on top. This would of course knock out two things, raise the seat 6-7 inches and add some needed bass to my sound system. After reading a lot of posts, I see that the Tuba is tuned for a smaller car or truck cabin. I don't see any other sub plans that can be as thin as the Truck Tuba, I really don't want to raise the seat more than 6-8 inches. If I build the Truck Tuba, how will it perform being in an open air environment, will I just be wasting money and time?

Indoors, I'd say give it a go. But outdoors, with all the competing ambient noises associated with a boat, my opinion is a TrT won't provide enough output for anything more than medium volume at the quietest anchorages. Clean full sound at lower volumes is about all it would be good for on a boat. In this case, it may be better for you to do a sealed or ported enclosure with multiple drivers.
