I built an Omni 15 in the Tall Boy version and it's quite the bomb for bass,

What might be some ideas to build it lighter and retain most of it's original specs?

OR- maybe build an Omni 12 light version?

I'm definitely older and am looking to cut some weight!

Yes it can.
Poplar plywood is awesome. I built an Omni Tallboy 12 with it, it's very light.
Baltic birch is a fantastic wood, but is much heavier.
You could also leave off the tweeter if you don't require it.

I put corner casters on my cabinet and a handle. Moving it isn't a problem.

I play bass and OTB15 is da bomb, which is why I inquired about it. That cabinet is best sounding I've ever had. It's the best full range one that Bill has designed, which is exactly what I am looking for.

I'll look into 1/2 inch poplar plywood for a new cabinet.

It'll never be helium-filled, but I had the same goal.
The lightest I could make it was using poplar plywood and a single neodymnium woofer.
No tweeter (surprisingly heavy!), but the midrange driver is required IMO.

I did add two casters and a built in handle on the top edge for tilting and rolling.
A little more weight, but saves me carrying a trolly.

Last tip, when screwing the back on, use more screws than you would normally.
Poplar is great, but not quite as stiff as Baltic birch. Maybe every 4 inches or so.

I also added a set of casters and handle to mine. I have all three speakers installed.

Maybe I can save weight also using all Neos???

I'll be researching the idea. Maybe it'll be possibly 10 lbs lighter?
