Finally got the Truck Tuba in the Jeep Liberty wired and crossovers somewhat set. Tuning is ongoing and the biggest problem is from the dash and door speakers. The subwoofer is great sounding as it sits. I have adjusted the crossover anywhere from 80Hz up to 200Hz and it simply works. Now that I see it in the hatch area of the Liberty it does take up more space than I realized it would but that's ok as it is easy to remove. The 8 channel amp I am using has the 7th and 8th channel driving the tuba at a maximum of 40watts per channel so 80watts total and it works. I am going to add a separate two channel amplifier for the tuba eventually but the simply setup at the moment works. Making the tuba pretty is next. I have carpet and duratex paint.

The size of your cargo area looks to be very similar to my VW golf...
And I agree, it does eat up more space than I had envisioned too.

Looks great in the Liberty. Here’s mine in Ford Focus ST. Same for me, love how it sounds on Factory amp, but still might add a small amp. Love Seth’s dual tuba, too!

I originally bought the plans to make this for my golf. I sold it before it happened but its good to know it fits as I keep looking for another golf.

With your speakers on the short side it keeps the cargo area more usable than my setup. I have a metal speaker grill but you still don't want to set anything on it.

Put 1.5 inch legs on the cab, then you can flip it over.

Thanks. My little JBL DSP4086 amp works well. But my OCD has me only looking at two channel JBL amplifiers. But only will purchase after I get my door speakers at an acceptable level of output and range coverage. I might end up with a 4 channel amp, one channel for each front door an the two channels for the subwoofer.

I am considering a dedicated enclosure to mount on the door. I have room enough to make it and the desire to make it look factory. I also have some extra door panels that I can cut up and leftover 1/2" plywood from my Truck Tuba build. Nothing that can't be reversed just want to try one.

If only Bill had a truck tuba type box 3" thick and 12"x24" on the big side for a 6.5 speaker that would cover 100Hz to 500Hz.... If only

In the small confines of a car or truck the advantage switches from a horn to a direct radiator above 100Hz.
