To clarify, in an earlier post, he was talking about the Delta 12LF - which might totally change the equation. As their xmax would really limit the voltage vs. a single 3015LF. Probably a much tighter race on that one.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 11:54 am A pair of 3012LF would be better than one 3015LF in any application, but it's an expensive proposition.

Obviously. Vd of a pair of 3012LF is 992cc, a pair of Delta 12 LF is 486cc. No contest there.
Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
All these posts give alot of helpful food for thought, thanks everyone. We have now got a bit of workshop time at a friends place and have started the build. Got panels cut for the 30" t48 and started putting together two omnitop 12s. Got to decide on how to load this titan soon I guess, so I know how to make the baffle
you.
What would be very usefull to know is an output comparison of two delta12LFs powered with my current amp (300watts at 4 Ohms) versus a single 3015LF powered with the potential upgrade emphaser amp ( 400watts at 8 ohms) ((still not making most of the driver I understand, but an affordable power improvement in 12v world)).
I know I've asked alot of yous :/
But I think I'm almost there On making this choice!
Thanks again everyone
you.
Bruce, this is exactly it. A single 3012Lf for some reason costs more than a 3015 Lf here in the UK right now. So Two of those is out of the question.Bruce Weldy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 11:59 amTo clarify, in an earlier post, he was talking about the Delta 12LF - which might totally change the equation. Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
Want slammin subs at home for that impromptu party?
Build a T48 with a 3015lf, just the one.
Then you can run it on a "proper" amp with mains power, or throw it on the cart.
An 8 ohm speaker should still make plenty of noise with a 4 ohm amp. An amps minimum impedance is the concern, and you're not any where near that.
If I'm wrong, then you have the excuse you need to build another T48, and the 2 parallel wired will be 4 ohms...

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

yes very much so .. hah
ok scrappp the delta 12s, this is last shot at being a difficult boy before i just buy the 3015LF... What about two of this little guys in parallel with my crappy amp ?

(AND a side question; are eminence xmax numbers measured in one direction or are they the sum of the backward and forward movement>? i.e are the stated values the same as a +- value or the double of that ?)

Qes too low. It's more or less equivalent to a 3012HO, not a 3012LF. Good for a top, not for a sub.Mishkin wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 6:47 am

One way is the standard for everyone.are eminence xmax numbers measured in one direction or are they the sum of the backward and forward movement

I recall this matching the specs quite well and coming in just slightly more the 15LF and a lot less than the 3015LF: https://www.fane-international.com/view ... 00LF#tab-1

The xmax on that one will require a lower voltage than the 3015LF, so sensitivity will be compromised.Chris_Allen wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 11:35 am I recall this matching the specs quite well and coming in just slightly more the 15LF and a lot less than the 3015LF: https://www.fane-international.com/view ... 00LF#tab-1

Sensitivity won't be compromised, maximum SPL will be.

Ahhh.....good point as sensitivity is measured at set voltage. My bad.....should have eschewed the big word and just said it wouldn't be as loud.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 11:55 am Sensitivity won't be compromised, maximum SPL will be.

Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
the 12volt amps wont reach the required voltage for max output anyway so wont matter that match in its main application i guess

If you buy the 3015LF now, you'll never wish you had later.

Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
If this T48 could ever possibly become one of two, or more in a larger system, I think the 3015LF will be your best choice.
If this T48 will never be more than it's current plan, I think we should keep looking for 12" drivers that fit in your budget and model well. It would be the most cost effective while maximizing performance.
