high-pass rumble filter

#1 Post by les winter »

My new THTLP is done. Frequency sweeps seem to show it unloads below 25 hz. Is a high pass filter recommended?
thanks.

It rolls off, but the driver never “unloads”. Unless the cab has a leak in the throat or rear chamber. High pass not required and/or recommended.
Good food, good people, good times.

+1. Bass reflex speakers unload below the tuning frequency, where the port output and cone output cancel each other. Sealed rear chamber speakers don't. The THT has a sealed rear chamber.
