I think i messed up Crossover parts

#1 Post by Steven Gustafson »

my delivery is coming today when i realized that i purchased some coils that have a 200W RMS rating.
I was more concerned with having the "smallest gauge possible." I will have to return these and get something bigger right?

Specifically, this one for a Omnitop 212, 4 ohm.

The power rating doesn't matter, DCR does. The smallest gauge possible recommendation only applies to the high pass filter, not the low pass filter for the woofers. Assuming this is for the low pass the DCR of 3.9 ohms is too high. Using an air core you need at least a 16 gauge coil to get to 2 ohms or less DCR. This one is within the inductance tolerance: https://www.parts-express.com/Jantzen-1 ... or-255-404
