Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
The 150 horn I bought has female threads. The current APT-50 driver has male threads...
The APT-50 I have has female threads and this horn on ebay has what appear to be male threads... I have contacted the seller to see if they can confirm the thread gender.

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
Absolutely, due to my messed up camera on my phone I have gotten bad about not taking pictures...
When I get home tonight I can get some pictures to illustrate the conundrum but in the interim these pictures of some drivers on ebay might tell the tale.
This is the driver I have, it came with a 80x80mm horn = APT80.
You can see the APT3 adapter is still attached to it after someone removed the horn.
The horn I have has female threads to allow the male threads of the adapter or equivalent 1 3/8"-18 driver to screw into it.

Here is a current production APT80 with male threaded driver and female threaded horn.
In short I need a old stock 150 horn or adapter or new APT50.

Looks like the best bet is to take out that waveguide, fill the hole and cut the round hole for the APT80. Or, just put a different driver on the back of the that waveguide you have in there.

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
The driver swap is the most ideal solution, it just works.
I am a glutton for punishment so machining an adapter to allow the connection to the 150 horn it is
Since the other cabinet calls for dual ASD's I will have no use for this driver if I don't use it.
Wish me luck.

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
2008ish is when the tweeter had the 1.5 female threads.
The 2010 catalog has the adapter in it but the apt50 has male threads.
I started on the adapter last night but had a thought that I should try the 80 first Incase the dispersion is actually too wide for my intended use (I don't think so) but it's easy enough to make a adapter plate for the cab to test.

It wouldn't be right if everything was straightforward!
You'll get there in the end and it's going to sound amazing. I've used the Omni 12TB and I loved it, shame I can't play bass very well, or should I say, shame I play bass like a guitarist.

If it were me (I don't have a lathe) I'd be really tempted to attempt cutting off the threaded portions of each part and gluing the stock threads to the new horn.
Anxious to see where this goes!

Really it's just me being cheap and trying to use driver I got.
I am going to try and not mess up any parts permanently so that I can UN-DO all this tinkering.
That was my first thought...
But since the old horns/adapters are not available doing so in the event of failure would result in ruining a APT80 and a 100x50 horn flare...
It is a possibility though still...

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
I recently bought a square 4.5" horn off ebay for not many $, out of China for the same purpose, to add a compression driver to my 4 x 10 bass cab.
So, it might take some time to find, but waiting for an eminence NOS APT50 horn might take longer.
The APT80 horn is still available and should fit.
Here's the store page of the seller I bought from:

WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
Thanks guys, I can't believe I pulled it off
I have it running on the KABD 4100 off a 120v power supply. The DSP kicked my ass at first, if the volume control is in the woofer channel there is no output on that line. This was using a "pre made" DSP template.
If I delete the volume control I get output, not really sure what is wrong there.
I'm going have to try and get some help on the crossover frequencys and slopes for the 3 way, I am not even sure if it's good or bad at this point more testing is needed.
