T45 stack
T45 stack
Got some wood yesterday. Not stoked about the prices/availibility on baltic birch at the moment... f**k putin Going to start working on my first Soundsystem this weekend. Heres the fusion360 render of a 2x4 stack of T45. Im super excited to get to work on this project!
Re: T45 stack

OOO should be fun! I miss my stack of six T45s
What's the details? What amps are you going to go with and any plans on tops / mains?

Re: T45 stack
Been hiding under a rock reading and re reading the plans for the last week. Finally started cutting the panels today. Ran out of 5x5 panels so I spliced 2 offcuts together. Waiting for that to dry before I finish cutting the last 2 long internal panels.
I plan on using these for renegade stage setups at festivals or at small clubs here in town when ever some of the local djs and promoters want a higher quality sound system than what’s already installed. I've been doing lighting and visuals for a while so I know the lay of the land pretty well. quality sound is lacking here.
I just bought a peavey ipr2 3000 and a driverack pa2 to go with my lab 12 drivers. As far as mains, I’m gonna built a handful of dr200’s. My goal is to make this rig relatively portable but still able to hit those low low notes I drool over
Re: T45 stack
Your on the right track man! Love the DR200s as well. Very easy to move around and a stack of em gets loud

I'm looking at my dream space right there - the wife and kids would never see me again and I would have walls full of unused drivers for 'projects' that I'll start 'later'.

It also looks eerily much like part of the shop at work. Although that is mostly metal, not woodworking. And no room for weekend projects, unfortunately.
Re: T45 stack
That's the makerspace I joined this year. Decided to join when I wanted to start this project. They have all the tools you can dream of. And I took some basic woodworking classes. So far, its been great. If you're based in Austin check out https://asmbly.org/ If not, there's makerspaces all over the place!I'm looking at my dream space right there - the wife and kids would never see me again and I would have walls full of unused drivers for 'projects' that I'll start 'later'.
I'm building the first box by hand to get a feel for it, but I plan on using the massive 5x10 CNC router they have to cut the panels for the other tubas. I redesigned everything in fusion360 so its ready to go. Just waiting on the next paycheck since this project is already way more expensive than I planned. I think I'm taking buy once cry once a little too seriously... haha
the peavey amp I had previously ordered was out of stock so I picked up a crown xti4002 on reverb for a great price. still more than I wanted to spend tho, just couldn't pass it up.

Re: T45 stack
I have an xti2000 I'd probably sell if you need something for the tops. I got spare amps laying around.....probably time to get rid of some.

Re: T45 stack
Right now, I'm focusing on the subs before i start acquiring gear for the tops. but as soon as im done with these, ill be very interested!I have an xti2000 I'd probably sell if you need something for the tops. I got spare amps laying around.....probably time to get rid of some.
Also, while i was jigsawing the main baffle, I suffered some major blowout (almost as bad as the day after 2 dollar beers and wing night) Any tips on how to fix this? this is on the face that the sub will be mounted to.
Re: T45 stack
Rub some PL on it and it'll be fine.
If you have access to a CNC, why not make some router templates? Makes builds way faster, easier and consistent. If I made 8 of anything by hand, the first would look terrible and the eighth would look decent.

Re: T45 stack
I have to complete the CNC router safety course before I can use it. Also, I want to do this first one by hand just to say I did. Will definitely use templates going forward though.

A simple handheld router and circle jig has made all of the baffle cut-outs that I've done....
