Can I Blow an Omni 15 with a 300w Tube Amp.

I asked this question on Talkbass, but didn't get much of a response.

If I use my Fender Bassman 300 Pro (300w valve) with my 3015lf loaded Omni 15, with a 24db/oct high pass set at 30hz, is the woofer safe from damage in the event that someone gets overzealous with the volume control?

Put another way, is it safe to drive the bassman into overdrive without risking thermal or mechanical damage to the Omni?

I understand that the mechanical and thermal handling of the 3015lf is well above the 300w the amp is claimed to produce, so it seems safe enough to the layman.

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but I would like to be sure

No speaker is ever 100% safe with any amplifier. Amps are rated for output at low distortion. When cranked to clipping they can easily put out twice their rated power. The simple rule with bass is if you hear distortion turn it down.

Thank you Bill, that answers my question and makes perfect sense.
