You can't really see back in there far enough to not know it's not totally covered. The shadows hide it really well...and as long as there is flat black - it blends right in.
Bruce, this is still in the cards! I may give up and flat black them as far as i can reach and then Duratex. We'll see!

Do you have a total cost breakdown for there pair.

I'd love to do a build but I'm on a tight budget. Dr200s with the budget driver may be just what I need
I should be able to figure something out, although I may not want to know! Lets take a stab anyway and hope my wife never sees this!

I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure I bought 15 panels to start and bought one more for braces and such.
1/2 Baltic Birch 16 panels @ 6.22 from Menards 99.52
1/8 BB 24x30 panels 2 @ 13.99 from Woodcraft 27.98
GRV 8" woofer, 2 @ 22.90 from Parts Express 45.80
Piezos 36 @ 2.68 from Parts Express(4 spares) 96.48
Dayton Audio resistors (HP) 2 @ 4.98 from PE 9.96
Dayton Audio resistors (HP) 2 @ 4.98 from PE 9.96
Dayton Audio coil (LP) 2 @ 6.49 from PE 12.98
Dayton Audio coil (HP) 2 @ 5.49 from PE 9.18
Dayton Audio (LP) cap 2 @ 6.81 from PE 12.38
Dayton Audio (HP) cap 2 @ 3.51 from PE 6.38
corner protectors 16.99
dual speakon in jack plate 11.99
mattress pad from Wal-Mart for $12
array wire 24ga 14c/ft from 6.99 roll $1ish
woofer wire 24ga 18c/ft from 17.99 roll $1ish

total 373.60

You could also factor in:
part of a can of Rustoleum black 8.89
part of a can of Duratex 45.99 I had left from my T48 build
I added 2 switches for 7.99 for my bi-amp
Have probably $20-30 in hardware with T-nuts and stainless screws for array etc
Probably sitting on $200/cab roughly.

I still may swap out the woofers and try the Dayton Audio PA200-8, which has the required rising mid range response. So that would add 53.98-22.90=31.08x2=62.16 to my total or 435.76 (those were $45 each when they debut in the fall IIRC).
Now by the time I spend $55 on a woofer I may as well hunt down some proper Eminence! That being said, I have zero complaints about my $25 woofers so far.

Thanks!

$200 a speaker isn't too bad when you could easily be spending $200 per woofer

for those curious about cost-cutting, after running the SketchUp model through the cut list extension you can get all 1/2in pieces cut from a single 5'x5' board. My local wood supplier sells them for about $65 apiece. so you should be able to save some money by buying larger panels. I went to rockler to pick up some smaller pieces Since I ran out of what I already had on hand and it was way more per board foot. I'm sure most people hear already know that but just thought id add that.

During COVID getting plyood panels was much more expensive, otherwise I agree the $50 to $60 people usually pay for 5x5 would be a better deal.

In last two years, nowhere near me has those, (sometimes Woodcraft for a decent price), so the next option is 4x8 sheets special ordered for 100 or more. So my handi-panels were perfect. I liked the small size to take home in my SUV instead of a pickup truck bed or trailer.

Is there a way to directly run the sketchUP model in a cut list app??

Some updates/finishing touches to the build.

Since i have access to a 3D printer now, I printed my own 4" long 2" ID port tubes. I printed a small collar to glue on the insde. They were installed with silicone enhanced latex caulk, then the ABS collars glued on the back/inside with ABS plumbers pipe cement, also black in color, that i used on the Melded Array. Afterwards I painted the caulk black with another coat to my horn mouth.

Since I have access to a fiber laser at work, and press brake, I was able to make a tripod mount bracket.
I was not finding a good hat that fit inside clearance-wise. I wanted that adjustable one, but they seem to be discontinued.
The plastic foot that came with my $60 budget tripods is a bit cheap, but i'll hold up until I find a better solution.

I may have to build another set with some extreme tilt ability in case I get another loft/balcony gig. You'll see what I mean in my new review post.

Yeah, maybe I didn't mention this, but now the Mrs would like me to pimp out my system to pay for it LOL.

Have her search "DJ Lady Style" on YouTube. Maybe she'll get inspired and the two of you could team up.
