Omni 15 2x12 with Beyma Woofers

#1 Post by Alexander Eddy »

Hi Folks,

I have a pair of Beyma 112 nd/w woofers looking for a home.

Their specs are within those suggested in the Omni 15 plans.

Qts 0.29
Fs 43hz
Vas 64l
Xmas 8mm
Vd 440cm3

How would the low Qts and Vas effect bass response when compared with a 3015lf?

The resultant 4 ohm impedance appeals to me for tube amplifier use, and I would love to put these woofers to a good use rather than having them sit in cardboard boxes in storage.

The Vd of the pair would be just in excess of that of a 3015lf.

As an alternative, given their low Vas, could a pair be crammed into an ever so slightly widened Omni 12 box?

Any suggestions?

Thanks folks

They'll work. Compared to the 3015LF they have a response bump down at 38Hz. They wouldn't be bad in a O12 made wide enough to accommodate them.

Thanks Bill. I assume that the hump is due mostly to the Omni 15 being too big a box for the woofers. If that’s true, would you expect a smoother response with the drivers in an Omni 12?

Yes, the hump is from the box size and tuning. I would be inclined to go with an 012, say 27 inches wide to fit the two woofers.
