Auto tuba on legs
Hi Bill etal. I just finished my autotuba with DCS255-4 10” Driver in a 19” wide box. Question: if i use the suggestion in the plans and turn it nose down on legs...how do i position it? I read your sub placement article and i think i get it for a sub sitting on the floor but on legs what is the story?
So the exit of the sub has 3 squared edges and one sharp edge...do i point the sharp edge into a room corner, into a wall , or what?
I’m still playing with low pass freq. setting and levels, but so far this thing is pretty impressive! Using the Daytonaudio DTA-2.1BT2 amp with old infinity rs10 bookshelf. My brother in law & i bought all the plans for $99 After drooling over your website for months. I am winning because my autotuba is done (except paint) and he is still deciding which one.
Thanks
MikeS

When the cab is on legs the floor becomes a wall as far as placement is concerned.

So “z-axis” orientation is unimportant?

It's not, the output pattern of subs is omnidirectional.

Thanks . One more question: per your sub placement article if i place my sub on the floor and point it into the corner i get +12db. Nose down On legs in a corner is it also +12db?
Btw i brought my autotuba and baby amp to my brotherinlaws house and hooked up to his system with vintage klipsch lascalas. He was very impressed and wants a sub more than ever now. It was on a wall and ~1/2 volume on the amp and that was plenty.

A corner is a corner. Table Tuba is a much better match with LaScalas.

Follow up…table tuba is rated performance 10, auto tuba is rated 7. But looking at the posted response charts, the autotuba seems to have the advantage?? Asking because of course i want another sub…its a disease.

If it's for indoors, the build the TT. If it is for an automobile, then, build the AT.

Different measurement protocols will give different results. All else being equal the TT goes an octave lower than the AT.Mikesummers wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 9:17 pm Follow up…table tuba is rated performance 10, auto tuba is rated 7.
