Sorry if this has been answered before. I'm just getting back into considering some DIY speakers for the home theater in my home. I think the THTLP would be a better fit for me. It says it can be a minimum of 15" width, but what is the width that would match the normal 36" profile of the non-low profile version?

Ah, makes sense. The 18" side at least makes it so I have the ability to get that through doors, since most are 32". I will think on if I can make it work at the full 36" for the room. It will be around 25 feet deep, 15 feet wide and 8 feet high. I'll be doing 2 subs in opposite corners (at least that's the hope). I'll be putting together a separate thread when I get a scaled drawing.

Where they fit will most likely not be the place they sound the best.

Interference patterns are the killer of all sub output in a room, so experimenting with positions is always recommended.

That’s one thing I have wondered with more dedicated rooms like this. How do you do that, since you won’t know the optimal locations until it’s done, at which point it’s hard to wire outlets and speaker wire and account for room design?

I have heard of that, but thought it was more applicable after the room was complete. I am sure it’s difficult to predict perfectly during construction, since there are so many variables. I am still early on and have some options, so will be figuring lots of things out.

Might think about two 18” placed together in one corner. Should have the same response as a single 36”, with more power handling. Splitting subs in room that size may cause phase cancellations.

So stacking them? I would think the non-LP would work better for that?

There's no way to know what will work best for placement without experimentation.
