t30s and otops

#1 Post by himhimself »

Ran my 2 T30s and 4 otop jarrays outside all day Friday for a work parking lot event. I was able to get them dialed in pretty good, bridging one amp for the subs and two otops per channel of the other amp. Ran them for about 6 hours with no issues at all. Looked like it might rain a couple times but stayed dry (and hot!) throughout. There were a few songs where I thought the bass sounded kinda weird and muddy, but I'm pretty sure it was just the compressed spotif-ied version to blame. Afterwards, I tore it down and moved it directly to our climbing gym to set up for Saturday. Amazing the difference it makes inside. Ran for about 10 hours on Saturday, nothing but compliments on the sound. At one point there was a break and most everyone exited the big room - just as Another One Bites the Dust came up on the playlist. I kept nudging the faders up and up. OMG. Still never got into the limiters and it felt like getting hit in the chest. This was the first time I used the otops in the gym and they were sooooo much better than the JBLs I used before. One of the members is also a grammy nominated, well-published audio engineer as well as professor and he said my rig sounded great - made my day! Now to find the time to make t30 three and four....

Next up: 2xJack12 or family of table tubas
