Background music remote control ?

I have an event coming up in August, where I will be providing music at a very large park. It’s a family day thing for work, there will be bounce houses, barbecue, games etc.
I want the ability to walk around and have some control of the system.
I was thinking about a Bluetooth receiver, but that has pretty limited range.
I was also thinking about using a Raspberry Pi as the music source, then I could use my phone as the remote control.
( Search for Kodi Operating system and Yatzy app for the phone) that remote control would work over Wi-Fi, so long as my phone is on the Wi-Fi I would be able to remote control the Raspberry Pi.
The only downside of this route is I wouldn’t be able to search for music on the fly. I will only be able to play back what’s on the list.
Does anyone have experience, or any suggestions on a better way to do this?

You can use a VNC or TeamViewer type app to remotely control a computer for playback. TeamViewer requires an internet connection but Would let you control the pc from anywhere you have an internet connection, not just WiFi.

One simple way: if you play music from a laptop running spotify, you can change tracks from your phone running the spotify app and logged on to the same account. I don't think you can make it download tracks to the laptop though, so you'd have to get all the music you'd want downloaded to the laptop ahead of time. You will need the laptop on wifi to make that work...

Oh that’s interesting, I didn’t know you could do that. I might give that a go as well, can’t hurt to have some options

Spotify is illegal to broadcast, which makes sense but is unfortunate because of its utility. I like the ability to hit go on a play list and walk away for a bit when needed. The other problem with it is the compressed low resolution grade of the audio files.
I am looking into Tidal. They have lossless/flac grade audio and it works almost exactly the same as Spotify. It’s $20 a month but worth the audio grade to me. With a $10 subscription to Serato you can legally use Tidal to stream and run playlists. I like being able walk away and have a predetermined playlist activated.

True about spotify for a paid gig. I didn't realize that was the scope. I'll have to check out Tidal

Interesting. I don't like that you have to have an internet connection. I had bad wifi yesterday, and a couple times songs just stopped. Went back to saved tracks only to keep the tunes rolling.

No the streaming option is interesting, I don’t think that I’m going to rely on that. I’m more interested in being able to control my playlist as I walk around the venue.
I think team viewer app may be a good option. It says it’s compatible on Linux devices and computers as well!

You can download play lists from Tidal to your device and use them off WiFi, I need to look into team viewer app...
