I am trying to remember, but forget, the name of the plate at the back of an amp rack, with knock-outs for Speakons, powercons, etc. This is so that I can find a source. What is it called?  :noob:

Any pre punched rack panel that accepts D mounts will take XLR's, 1/4" etc, and speakons up to NL4.
Penn Elcom is one manufacturer.

So your whatsy-doover thinga-me-bob would be called a pre punched rack panel...

Or build you own from a blank panel. Use a Greenlee 15/16" punch. It fits all of the xlr and speakon connectors.

It's the only way to go if you are building custom panels. I used a step-down drill bit for several and it's a messy PITA. Finally bought the punch and felt like a fool for not doing it earlier.

A punch is what you want if you're making lots of these, but for the price of a punch you can buy three pre-punched panels.

+1

The pre-punched are nice and a lot less work, but I like to do a single row on a 2U panel. More room for labeling.

Gonna start building a rack today for a local club......it will have a rack panel in it too...
