My first Festool is not a track saw...

...but rather a random orbital sander. This purchase is long overdue.
Needed a good, quiet electric palm sander for some time now.
Something with the same low-profile ergos as the Mirka I've grown accustomed to. Light and small enough that even the GF wouldn't hesitate to use it for her projects.

I know they're awesome tools, I just can't get past the cost.

Couldn't agree more, but being exposed to Sioux and subsequently Mirka in the line of work have spoiled it.
The local wood club here also happens to retail Festool...so every time I drop in to stock up on BB, there's the entire lineup staring me down as soon as I enter the door.
The brushless motors are game changers. Seriously worth looking into if compressed air is not an option.
Still stung the wallet, possibly even sold out, but I also don't have many power tools to begin with...not even a table saw. For as much as I despise finishing work, seems all my tools are somehow centered around that process.

I've got a 3" RO for detail/polishing work...this will likely be my first and last 6".
