bi-amp set up suggestions

#1 Post by northern piper »

Hi

I'm in the process of building a single T24, which is to be powered by my new iNUKE 3000dsp. I have a pair of 3-way cabs that are powered by a separate amp of course. Signal comes from my EQ split to each amp and I'll be low passing the iNUKE to the T24 as has been discussed here. My question is, should I be considering a high-pass filter for the 3-way cabs? I don't have a crossover and don't want to buy one but wonder if I should be looking at a some sort of filter.

I look forward to your thoughts.

If you've read some posts here, you probably already know what your answer will be. Get a DriveRack or DCX2496! (or the like). You need a crossover and you need a limiter. I first ran the T24 filter daisy-chained to a 2-way top and it sounded like garbage till I got an amp for tops, amp for subs, and my PA+. Are you half-a$$ing your build? Don't half-ass your signal chain (believe you me).
BFM builds:
XF212
T24 BP102 24"
2x SLA's 6-5" mids, 9- gt-302's
2x AT 14" MCM 55-2421
TrT 5" MCM 55-2421
AT 18" JBL GTO804
2x OT12 flat array
2x SLA Pro 2-Alpha 6's 2-Goldwoods
2x T39 24" 3012lf
Simplex 10 BP102

You will want to high-pass the tops so they don't interfere with the subs. If the amp for the tops also has a good DSP (like the Behringer you're using for your subs) it could potentially be done there.
2xJ15, THT, 4xT39 3012 (2x15", 2x20"), 2xSLA Pro, 2x short SLA Pro (Dayton), W6

so, I spoke to the shop where I got my iNUKE3000dsp and he's offered me one of these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi ... -crossover

which is slightly used for $200 Canadian cash. I think it looks like a no-brainer for what I need. Granted it's more than I need, but why not grow into gear (vs out of right?)

Just thought I'd throw this out for comments.

That unit or a dbx Driverack is appropriate.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210
