Bass preamp, which to choose.

Trying to look ahead for purchasing a preamp for bass guitar, and I was wondering what the recommendations are. Is the on-board distortion of your suggestion a decent one? Any other tricks on the one you suggest?
TIA.

I'm a big fan of my Peavey Max Bass Preamp.

Are you looking for a rack mounted pre amp or a floor pedal? Valve?
I've only played on a couple but I've seen others use the MXR M80. I did a quick search for reviews and it sounds like a good pedal.

Thinking mostly about a floor pedal. I was also thinking that somewhere down the line I might like to have a valve pedal, too.

I've sent some messages out to a few ex bass players to get their input.

SansAmp Programmable. Lots of good tones, both clean and dirty. I used to drive my QSC PLX1202 with one, until I replaced it with a SansAmp RPM.

I can vouch for the Zoom B3. Does absolutely everything I need.
Works as a USB sound card, so you can practice to recorded music with headphones if you want. XLR output. Easily powered with a 3-cell LiPo battery or a USB power bank.

Line 6; no amp needed if you're in to the PA that has subs (just some monitor perhaps). I've even got bass amps on my Pod x3 live (for guitar) that sound amazing. But there are bass pods as well.

You can find the Line 6 Bass PODxt Live for reasonable prices now, and it's a fantastic-sounding multieffect.
I've had one for about 4 years now, and I even record through it. It sounds that good.

heavybdrums, she is an excellent bass player, without a doubt. I, however, do not have her skills or money, haha! Thanks anyway.
