Is there anyway to fix a 20uF 250v5% capacitor after one of the leads broke clean off?
Can I melt some of the plastic to solder it back on?

They sell a 22uF 500V5% cap at Radio Shack for about $1.50. I know you get what you pay for but for a quick fix will this get me by and if I should keep it in there for a longer period of time what are the long term effects?

It broke off from coil coming loose from backing and the weight wiggled it off out of capacitor.

I am trying to fix (today) the 15"driver filter that broke on my O15TB.

Get the Radio Shack one. The cap for the woofer is just a shunt to ground so an inexpensive one will be fine, just make sure it is non-polar. Trying to fix a broken lead might work but I'd be worried about the fix vibrating loose.

RadioShack Corporation was bought out of bankruptcy by Standard General, which runs Sprint Stores nationwide. RadioShack was at one time a large seller of Sprint phones and services, so this made some sense. Standard General closed a large majority of the stores, but stores deemed to have low enough fixed costs (rent) and good enough potential for traffic to sell Sprint phones were kept open, and still operate as "RadioShack." Those stores now have staff dedicated to selling cell phones, and more or less separate staff for selling RadioShack stuff. I used to manage a Shack store, and have friends who still do. They seem to think it's the best thing that's happened to the company in twenty years, as their focus is now back on selling the stuff that RadioShack was famous for, not cell phones.

My local Berea, KY Radio Shack hasn't changed at all during the company's issues. It's still 75% phones and stuff and 25% parts and DIY stuff....

Then again, Berea itself hasn't changed at all...ever.

There used to be a RadioShack near where I lived in Michigan. They closed it because it got robbed... DAILY!
It was located on the infamous 8 Mile Road, in a city named "Eastpointe", that changed it's city name from "East Detroit" in 1992, to avoid the stigma of being associated with the city of Detroit, which is on the south side of 8 Mile.

We've gone from forty some stores in the Charlotte area to fewer than 15, if I understand correctly. The ones that remain are the old dirty dingy ones for the most part.... they had low rent. All of the newer stores with bright lights and the newer metal retail fixtures are basically gone around here.

Supposedly Standard General is going to do some refreshes on the old stores (and they badly need it) but I suppose it remains to be seen what will actually happen.
