Im still using older FW, 1st gen IPad.
In the eq section of outputs there is a hi and lo pass filter can be set for 24 db per octave, If I us Aux feed sub and 50hz hi and 100 low pass is this a acceptable substitute for xover.

Also the comp limiter set to max limit seems to clamp voltage at the level you set it at.

Does any of this make sense for a small pub, club PA

Any body fooled around with this before?

I've only used the Mackie a couple times. The real big issue around using an output section of a digital mixer as a crossover is in the minimum attack time on the limiter. I would research that carefully on the Mackie. As many have stated here, the horn loaded subs sound great until they stop operating if you happen to overdrive them. Some here have used the X32 outputs for a crossover, but the X32 claims zero attack time compressors. In general I prefer to use a system controller like the driverack or Behringer DCX2496, since it takes the limiters and crossover settings out of the hands of a console operator.

Dig the crossover and EQ's on the Mackie. The compressor as a limiter? I don't care for the compressor except for super-ultra-mega-light use. Using it as a limiter feels a bit slow.

I did play around with the comp. 80hz tone, set it for various voltages to match my various sub. pushing the output on the aux so it was really hitting it constantly and the voltage crept up 10ths of a volt. I will play with it some more set at lower outputs and make sure it holds at the proper level.

Neat thing is you can save compressor presets for different sub/amp combinations.

I do have a DCX and DEQ but looking for other possible situations in case of equipment failure etc.

It will limit a constant signal, but I'm thinking it is too slow to catch sharp peaks.

Very true, fast transient signal would probably get through.
