This week I've started my build on some wedges and Otop j array's.
I've got 2 Jack 15's and 2 Titan's 48. I'm planning to build more but for now it's enough.

Here are a couple of photo's.
I'll make more this week, I will also order the drivers.

I've been away for a while but I'm back!

I know I need to cut the hole's in the side but I will do that once the outside of the cab is done, this makes it a lot easier to cut.
Yesterday I started working on the line array and the monitors.
On the first Friday of July I'm doing a outside gig in front of approximately 2500 people..
I will use 8x T48 36'' 3015LF loaded, 8x W8, 8x Otop j-array 3012LF and NSD2005 Loaded.
After 35meters I will use 2 Jack 15's for delay.
Until this day I still need to finish over 8x Otop J-Array's and 4 T48... also the wedges need to be done..
nought said, lets start the build..

I will post a few picture's every day until I'm done..
I've started making sawdust on al the baffle's and glueing the cabs together, until now I'm done building 3 Otop outside cabs.
The first thing I will be doing is finish the J-array.. after that the subs and the wedges will be done.
I now have a couple of evenings free to work in my system.

Here are some pictures;

I will continue my build tomorrow!

I hope that's a typo......you don't want the 3012LF, you want the 3012HO for the OT12s.

Exactly!

I'm wondering about how it's going to effect the design if i make the horn part of the otop's like the straight design and not like the bended wood?

Doing so will be at your own risk. Be aware that you will be altering the horn path length and flair, so this will negatively affect performance.

Also, IMVHO, building 8 with 3012HO is a waste of money. At 4 boxes per side, you won't really gain anything over the much cheaper 2512. I would also gently suggest the 1st bottom pair have melded arrays. I say gently as I know that obtaining the correct piezos in the UK is an exercise in futility!

Great looking build so far! Please keep us updated...

I will no longer think on making the sheet straight. I'll just bend some wood.
I'm thinking on using the NSD driver for the cabs and I will make some front fills later on (SLA PRO).
How does the ASD1001 compare to the NSD2005? I've looked at the parameters but I'm wondering if a ASD1001 would keep up with the 2512 at max spl?

I've been busy yesterday putting some cabs together, here are a few pictures..

Today I will put the other two cabs together, then I will cut the handles in the side and start working on the front of the cab for bending the wood.

About the only "downside" I can see with Otops or Otop Jarray is the lack of being able to put in two ASD's in the HF CD horn (as compared to DR's).

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Bruce Weldy chimed in and said that's why he fitted NSD's to to his Otops.
Of course, there's a serious financial jump from the ASD's to the NSD's for those of us outside the USA...

The only reason for using the 2005 is for a lower crossover frequency. It's In The Plans. :horse:

The DRs use two HF drivers because the larger height of the HF horn requires it, and besides, it would not be possible to use a single HF driver, as it would have to occupy the same physical space that the woofer does.

Ok Thanks!
Of I use 8x 3012HO, do I get more maximum spl compared to the 2512?
I know they have a bigger xmax and they can handle more watts..
Is there a big difference in max output?

Yes, from not only the higher xmax but also higher sensitivity. With those I would go with the 2005, which has higher sensitivity than the ASD. With the 2512 I wouldn't bother, as the ASD is enough to match the 2512 output, unless you specifically want a lower than 2kHz crossover.

I get it! Is there a big difference in output between the two cabs?
I mean, would 3 3012/nsd cabs go louder then 4 2512/asd cab?

Yes, by about 2dB.
