DR250's are both flat and melded arrays DeltaII loaded and the T39's are Lab12 loaded.
I am looking at the Crown XTI4002 for sub duty and the XTI2002 for the tops.
Looking for confirmation that I am making the right amp choice's before I pull the trigger.

That's plenty of amp for those. If you want to save some bucks, you could go with an XLS2500 for the tops - plenty of power for 4 tops, plus lighter and cheaper than the xti.

But, you can't go wrong with those amps.

Those are the exact amps I have been using for years. Plenty of headroom and processing works.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm about to be $1700 poorer but the will have shinny new amps.

How about IPR2 2000 for tops and IPR2 3000 for subs? $900

+1. While the Crowns are good, they are very pricey. I have 1st gen XTi's.

I do agree that the price is steeper than most for the Crown amps but so is the resale value. It's much like the resale value with Ford-v-Chevy. I would never own a Ford based on there resale value.

They are whom I bought mine from, some 7 years ago. They had great pricing then, as they do now.

Personally, I would still choose the Peavey IPR over the Crowns.

I run my DR250s stereo on two separate amps. 2 melded and 2 compression. Greater control of EQ and power shading. May not be something you do now but definitely consider it for the future.

So is the IPR2 3000 a good choice for running 4x Tuba 30's with Lab 12's?

Also, my poor maths is leaving me confused... perhaps someone can help... If I'm running two Tuba's on each channel of the amp, that'll be a 4 ohm load. To get 50 volts per channel I'll need 625 watts which is well within the amps rated power.

What I'm not sure about is current draw: How many amps will I be drawing at the wall? Is it 12.5 amps total or is it 2 x 12.5 amps? If it's the latter, that doesn't sound like it'll work with a normal UK wall plug with 13 amp fuse.

Don't you guys use 230 Volt power? If so the amps will be well within limits.

Output power and associated current is not the same as what the amplifier draws from the power socket. You need to find the value for current draw.

From the IPR2 3000 user manual:
Current Draw @ 1/8 in VA (watts) 615 (315) @ 4 ohms
Current Draw @ 1/3 in VA (watts) 1215 (735) @ 4 ohms

I've taken out the 2 ohm and 8 ohm ratings to make it easier to see.
Sure, when you go above 1/3 power, those figures increase.
I think the UK power is or has dropped to 220V.
Still, 13 x 220 = 2860W, so at 1/3 power you still have more than 2000W available in your socket supply to draw on...

+1, sort of. The draw at the plug will be around 735 watts, or a little over 3 amps. You blokes should have no problems running 4 IPR2-3000 full-tilt from a single 13 amp plug.
