So.....was just sitting back the other day thinking about all the BF speaker options and this question came to mind out of the blue, so figured I would open a can of worms and see what replies come of it....

What is the largest event done with a BF system?? Indoor or Outdoor? Audience Size? Etc......

Some of the larger live music rigs around are owned by forum members Pulseman and camrynekai.

You can see (in their sigs) what they're using in this thread:

Not the biggest room or the most people but this is a pretty nice system. 4 T60s and 8 DR200s. They're using the X32 board and the PA+. Since this picture was taken they've upgraded some of their monitors to the W10s.

Cool....its great seeing the wide variety of venues and systems in use. Agreed that Pulseman and camrynekai have some pretty nice systems....and I did follow Hifibob's club install thread which looked amazing. But, not sure who can compete with the 80,000 watt Dancetonauts....LOL. I'd be curious to see how large a crowd that is covering, as I could not find any info in that regard. From the picts it seems pretty sizeable.

80,000 watts for Dancetronauts was the added output of all the lightbulbs on the truck...

Anymore pictures of this rig Rick? It simply looks amazing.

Thanks! Unfortunately that's about the best picture I have. They have three Simplexx monitors on backorder- maybe I can take more pictures when I deliver those.

The rig is bolted to the permanent stage and the DR's use array brackets per the plans. The bottom DR is bolted to the T60 sitting in a "box array bracket". Pretty secure.

The sound is pretty astounding! The placement isn't ideal of course (pretty big hole at 80hz) but there's so much headroom it's pretty easy to get the sound dialed in. The main sound guy is an up and coming Nashville producer who has a great ear so the system's in good hands.

Hopefully that good ear of his will pick up on that 80hz cancellation and cram those 60s back in the corner where they belong.

And despite their large *mobile* rig, I have a hard timebelieving the Dancetronauts actually *use* much more than 1/3rd of that power for audio. Lights, maybe, though with the culture of BM, they should have gone all led and EL by now.

Oh believe me he heard the cancellation! His ear is pretty intimidating to be honest. He picked up on most of the problem frequencies, standing waves, etc. when he first heard the system. The setup is what it is- because of exits, the desire of the main pastor in charge and fire marshall requests there are no corners or walls to be had. Very knowledgable sound guys and musicians involved- we talked through every possible scenario before it was built and they knew going into this that it wasn't going to be ideal. That's why it's overbuilt and they knew even with it being overbuilt that some of the issues (mainly not as much headroom) would still remain.

Again, it's a great sounding system. Placement's not perfect but with powershading, delay and seperate e.q. on each set of two DRs there's plenty of 80hz content in the main part of the room. They typically run 110dB at the back of the room so it's a pretty visceral experience closer to the stage.
