If I plan to run three 4 ohm drivers in a TAT, could I load two Speakon jacks into the side, and wire one of them with the drivers in series, and the other with the drivers in parallel?
Something tells me that's a bad idea, but I figure someone here can tell me for certain.

Don't do it. All the current for the 2 speakers in parallel will be running through the single series coil. That coil will be taking the brunt on the power while the other two will be coasting along for the ride. The levels won't be equal out of the speakers either.

Your arrangement could work being driven from two separate amplifiers, but you would have to balance them carefully to equalize the power across all three coils. Easy to do on the workbench, but difficult to get right in the field.

If I understand your questions correctly, the answer is no. If you have parallel wiring and series wiring connected at the same time, you'll end up with shorts.

If you want to be able to switch them around, just install a jack for each speaker separately, then make up the wiring harnesses externally. Optionally, you could install only one speakon jack, and bring all the wiring out to a terminal strip or banana plugs which could then be reconfigured for series or parallel as necessary.

It won't work as you hope. The power will take the easies route when you are trying to do series.

You can't do it with separate jacks. You need to use a multi-pole switch. Don't see the need for this myself.

I'm just going to run them parallel, and call it a day.
1.6 ohms + 2 for the horn puts me somewhere close to 3.5, and my amp is 2 ohm capable.
If I kill the amp... eh, it was free anyway.

Ok forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have read in the plans where dual speakers are used, but never three. Maybe I misunderstood the OP. Is he planning on having 3 TAT's?
