I am just getting rolling on a pair of THT's. After going through the forums for weeks, I kept running across a common thread - don't stray from the plans. Looks like every possible modification/change has been questioned or tried, and failed. So I get it, don't stray, no problem. After a bit of searching, I found the Aurauco ply. Picked up the right adhesive, 18 gauge brads. Built the cutting table, a zero offset sled (wow, why have I never seen this before, what a timesaver!!!!!!), Freud blades for my table and circular saws. Wahoo, off to the races!

Looking good. That's a very tidy workshop , i wish mine was that clean.
It looks more like chaos in mine.
Those are going to make one hell of a rumble when completed.
+1 on following the plans, it garrantees a performing end product.

Or me... besides, where's the fun in just picking up a screwdriver/sander/etc and using it?? In my well organized garage (total mess) I have to spend 5 minutes finding the thing first "But I just had it here 2 mins ago and I haven't moved" I think. "No you didn't" thinks the screwdriver from across the other side of the garage whilst it looks at me mockingly.

You guys are funny about the clean place. Here's the story, too much info but building stuff- then almost as much, savoring the building by discussing it is therapy, so here it goes. Some time back I realized I need a little haven in my world, and being one of those fellows that really needs his hobbies, I desperately needed my hobbies back. Sooo...after building a car in that shop 10 years ago and then falling into middleage - kids, job, blah blah, it became a storage spot for all the junk that had nowhere else to go. So last fall I cleaned it out and got to work. I stumbled upon http://www.garagejournal.com specifically this guys garage -> http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/show ... hp?t=55006 , and it was off to the races. I needed a easy relaxing place, and it used to be grey lower walls, white upper, with a red stripe running around the room. Too visually stimulating for any real relaxing enjoyable work, so I sort of copied Jacks place. At one end of the room there is a garage door, just open it up and leaf blower all the dust out. Usually I just do wood cutting outside anyway, but it's been cold, and I have been working late at night. After a day tinkering I usually give it a cleanup - have a couple cold ones and listen to some music, or like last night, leave it a mess and that's the first thing I address next time I go in for some "me" time. And yes I wind up losing 5 pencils and 3 tape measures chasing them around the room like most everyone else. Maybe an apron with pockets? I wouldn't use the pockets.

Those orange speakers are TriTrix, the drivers and crossover parts come as a kit from PE, and were my first attempt at speaker building. I'd like to know how to design this stuff but all that goes to Curt and Wayne the designers, like I said above, my gift is just following directions that the experts put forth.

Anyway, two new photos, I got the baffles built last night. Hurricane nuts or kreg screws? And from last week, my custom clamp organizer. I got tired of rifling through a drawer full of clamps, and built that beauty. Every time I see it I smile. It's the little stuff sometimes

Screws are plenty when there is 1" at least, of wood for the screws to go through (for mounting the driver). IITP.

I can't show "The Harley 5 star award" on this thread yet, as once it's shown, it is in your honour.

My dad was a chairmaker and a cabinet maker by trades. His workshop was always neat and tidy, no matter what stage his work was at. Even when he was a dairy farmer for many years he still had his own "woodwork workshop".

Like me, his first name was Harley.

When he retired from farming, he went back to chair-making for a living. He organised me a saturday job cleaning up there as money for when I was at high school. I once said to his boss at the top of the stairs looking at the workshop "That's really neat you keep my dad employed despite the fact he spends more time cleaning up his bench and work-place that actually building things - not Like John over there, I' always in awe of that guy because he's surrounded in piles of wood parts, sawdust and his machines are always making noises, wood chips flying everywhere, obviously very busy putting stuff through".

The boss looked at me and said. "Let me tell you something, you dad is the most efficient worker here, produces more than the others, has zero rejects and I wish I had a shop full of men like him. He's an organised worker, can find all tools in an instant and no blemishes on any parts he makes due to wood chips and other stuff laying around. He also has had zero accidents. So don't look at Johnny in awe for throughput, he's very wasteful - look at your dad as the best example here" - possibly not the exact words ( it was 49 years ago after all ), but close enough to explain the meaning.

For me to be able to work in his home workshop, guess what the rules were?

So years ago I posted one of my builds and someone remarked at how "anal" ( hate that word ) my workshop looked. Others chimed in, reckoned I should get an award, so I turned it around and as an incentive for others to work tidy, I made up ( possibly on someone's suggestion ) "The Harley 5 star award" Very, very rarely, people earn The Harley 10 star award ( only ever happened once I think )

So a few more pics of your build progress with your tidiness evident all the way through and you'll get the 5..at least.
