Completely lost on HT amps with no, or low high pass.

Building a pair of THT's with the recommended drivers. Looking for a plate amp to drive them both but after reading through every amp post on this forum I see that they all seem to filter below a certain freq. I called PE and support said the SPA500 filter is set to 18hz, but their documentation states 30hz. On the other hand lots of folks on this board are using BASH 300 and 500, as well as the Dayton amps with success. The O Audio with variable high pass doesnt seem to be available any longer. Sooo, to use the low end freq the THT can produce, what's a suggestion for an amp to drive two of these these?

the tht doesnt do anything below 20. the bash amps (with their filter at about 18hz) are perfect because they actually help protect against over excursion below horn cutoff.

I'd recomend a non plate amp anyways though. If using the dayton DVC (par wired for 4 ohm load) the Behringer Inuke 1000 dsp is a nice fit (at 300 w per channel at 4 ohms), and adustable dsp options/ limiters.

I'll look into that. My Denon amp has DSP, could I get away with the nonDSP amp, or are there more settings there I'd be missing?

eh, if your denon has dsp (and can apply a couple bands of paremetric eq, and a hipass/lopass) then get a non dsp amp.

THT does not need high passing, as the excursion is at a maximum at 22Hz, and drops below that.

That doesn't mean that a high pass has no value, as there's no point sending signal below the pass band to the speaker, nor is there any point having the amp producing it. But it doesn't specifically need it for excursion limiting.

You might want to look at the Yung 500 watt plate amps. They are on sale at Parts Express now. I just picked one up - haven't used it yet though.

Looks like I have a line on crown amps, and plan on getting the xls 1000. On one hand it is complete overkill for two THT's, but for the price I am roughly at the same as 2 plate amps.
