Just took delivery of this badass amp tonight

, going for testing tomorrow afternoon. I got the XA4.14. Short version, I'm going to use this 2600@4ohm x4 channel amp to power my 4x T60 duel 12" T60 subs until I can build 4 more which this amp will *hopefully* also power in a parallel/series configuration.

The amp never even tried and it made the T60s sound like I've never heard them before. Completely DESTROYED the "main"

stage that had 8 JBL 18"s. Ours sounded so amazing and hit so hard it was tear jerking. Around the time the speakers are maxed out the -36 db light is occasionally coming on. This was outdoors too, Can't wait to test it indoors, unfortunately that will be a while. For some reason or another 5 of 8 Lab12"s are dead

..... I watched the system all night and there were milliseconds around 55-60v but never sustained, most of the night was in the 40-45v range. Done it before with other amps w/o issue. Not sure why but system ran hard, clean and loud ALL NIGHT LONG. We shut down, brought the rig home and checked everything out a few days later to discover. Blown drivers. Ideas.

Do you have a limiter and high pass filter like the plans say is required? You'll keep blowing driver until you do.

Doesn't sound like you have a limiter, as they should never receive 55-60v. The Lab12 need to be limited hard to 50v in the t60 to be on the safe side..

Five!? out of the eight!? were dead!? and they still crushed???!!! AMAZING!

Fantastic cabs, they are.
Wait until you get a hard limiter on all eight cabs!!!
PS: were the cabs leak-tested?

Yes, I have a limiter/compressor, but was set really soft and the 50-60v time was while I was playing cause I let the system go louder for me, again never had probs before...course never had amp this powerful before either. Using a dbx 260. Running subs @ 35-170Hz with 35@ 12db LR roll off and 170 @ 24 db BW roll off. I thought if 50v was safe then 60v could be touched. Why would it work all night till shut off then be dead for post show testing? another question. the spec sheet says these go as low as 27hz but the driver spec sheet says 40hz, so should I run 30 or 40? or? 50v Hard limit huh? ok will do from now on.

also. why are you running your subs to 170? do your mains lack any low mids?
12 db hipass seems too light for my taste as well, even though your hipass is WAY higher than needed. lower your hipass, run a 24 db slope. lower your lopass, run either an 18 or 24 db slope.

I can go as aggressive as 48db roll off LPF/HPF but I thought you wanted a soft low roll off and a hard high roll off? No I am not lacking mids, between the Italian SA1232s and SRM450v1 with V2 low drivers I have PLENTY of mid/high. Going off of T60 chart which shows a usable range of 27-210hz. PLEASE give any suggestions you think would be better. Relatively new to passive gear. * DR280s will be under way once T60s are repaired.

Also, to actually answer your question, system seems to sound better and more bass heavy when cut off around 160-180 range.

You should be using a HPF @ 25Hz, as steep as you can go, 48dB/oct. Where you cross from subs to low mid-bass is a personal one, But I NEVER cross higher than 100Hz, and use at least a 24dB/oct. Others have used lower frequencies and gentler slopes.YMMV. Proper placement is the key to success.

If you are looking for more mid bass i would not run my subs that high, but look for dedicated kick / low mid cabs.

Really? Duel 12" T60 cabs no higher then 100hz? there is so much life between 100-160 hz though....* I do mostly EDM music.
