Hi all, i'm new too the Forum and have been following Bill's Cab's for a while now and FINALLY have decided on building a herd myself...i've decided too build (2) Titan 48's & (2) DR300's too test my build skill with these new designs. I've built alot of replica stuff from different brands and didn't do too bad. My target system for 2013 is (24) Titan 48's & (18) DR300's [/color]so hope ya'll like what you see and i can get help from time too time when i can. I'll post some of my recent builds for your viewing pleasure
Thanks,
a fellow builder
Guido

Oh and what driver is REALLy the better choice for the Titan 48...is it the Eminence Kappalite 3015LF or the 18 Sound NLW9300???
Thanks in advance

Really? Which stadium do you run sound for? I am interested to see this build.

3015LF is probably the most common choice out of the 15's, and should provide very similar output to the 18 sound.

if you have room in the budget go with the 18sound then just limit like its the 3015lf and you'll never blow one

huh?
I don't understand, why buy the 18 sounds and then take 20V off their war volume?
I would have figured, with a rig as big as the OP is intending, that every last ounce of juice would count...
Ryan,
the 3015lf limit is 60V and the 18sound 80V, I think there's quite a bit more output in the 18sound based cabs...
edit: My apologies, where's my manners. Hello and welcome to the forum
I'll be very interested in your progress as well...

Is it too early for that?
24 Titan 48's? This, I gotta see. If I'm wrong, I will happily apologize as I drool over the build pics. But I would think someone with the money to build and transport that kind of herd doesn't need to go the DIY route. Even if I fell into $50K or $100K tonight, I'd build 8 Titan 24's and 8 OTops 12's for my little DJ business and be done with my rig.
So, good luck and please prove me wrong; I'd love to see the pics. Welcome to the forum, by the way. Remember: Rule #1 is "Pics or no cabs."

I guess I'd assume that 24 t48s are basically gonna eat lunch with whatever is thrown at them, regardless of driver, esp if they are all built wider. the wider the better.
And... i'd hate to have to find the blown driver in that group if it happens, and it's happened to me 3 time

Ryan,
the 3015lf limit is 60V and the 18sound 80V, I think there's quite a bit more output in the 18sound based cabs...
That's funny, the 18sound has less xmax than the 3015. How will it take 20 more volts? I think not. Is the 80v for use as a top, perhaps?

From the T48 plans:
"The 3015LF, 4015LF and Lab 15 limit is 60 volts. The limit of the 12NLW9300 is 70 volts, that of the 15NLW9300 80 volts."

Understood, its just interesting that the 18 sound needs 80 volts to reach its modest 8 mm xmax. Perhaps it exceeds its linear mathematical xmax by a bit on that voltage...

Or it could be less sensitive.

Its more likely that the 3015LF is limited due to thermal capabilities (60v is 450w in 8ohm) and the 18sound is displacement limited due to having higher thermal limit than displacement.. Its just a guess, Bill knows whats up and down

According to
eighteensound, the maximum peak to peak excursion is 37mm

That makes xmax 16.5mm!

it's stated lower in the specs that Xmax is 8mm.
the 16.5 mm isn't that Xlim ?
i'm new when it comes to reading driver parameters so this could be way of.

+/- 8mm thats 16mm travel.
