First ever cab I've build, built it only using a jigsaw, I had a friend rip the inner panels with a table saw though, but all the angled cuts were done by jigsaw and a steady hand. It's not the most accurate thing ever but I made sure things were sealed right. I'm using the dcs255-4.

How does it sound? well I'm not using it in a car, I'm using it as a PC sub, but it sounds pretty darn good I'd say. Its not that great for movies however. This is my first horn and I can say that the bass sounds so crisp and effortless, I can hear the subtleties in the music and can easily distinguish between different notes. Most subs I'd hear before were just one note wonders. Oh the SPL is on another level.

I have a couple of questions, since I built this slightly wider than standard does that mean I have more extension? if so how much?. Also, when calculating the maximum voltage I can feed into the driver do I use the drivers nominal impedance value or do I take into consideration the increased impedance due to the horn loading?

You will have more of what ever low-end the TAT will give because it's wider. I would think that you could go up to 28-30v with it.

Usually the horn impedance is ignored, giving a small margin of safety.

If you put it in a car it will surprise you with the extra extension and tactile thump. Time to do a table tuba for the movies, or a slim THTLP fits in the same space as your TAT

Nice build! Judging by the TONS of caulk around the speaker gasket, I'd say that you were pretty thorough with getting things sealed right.

I didn't include a driver access panel so I wanted to make sure there were no mistakes

I had some fun at war volume today. I must say I've fallen in love with folded horns, there is zero distortion. You crank the volume and you feel and hear it get louder but there is no hesitation from the sub-woofer it doesn't sound bothered one bit. Then you leave it on, go for a walk around the house and realise that small annoying buzzing sound you thought maybe was coming from the sub is actually coming from the walls creaking.

There is one characteristic about the sound that I absolutely love, I don't know how to describe it but I would call it impluse. Short sharp sounds so clear and defined. I think maybe it's caused by the sub being able to play exactly the note it was asked too and not a mixture of harmonics rather than the "quickness" of the bass, but anyway, I love it

Nice! Looks like you used the same driver for both tubas...would be a good opportunity to see if there are any slight differences between the two designs (AT and TAT) sound wise. Let us know if you notice any. Thanks.

Actually the TAT uses the dayton 10, but the normal style only the eight :\

Oh, ok thanks. I think the dayton 10 would fit in the regular AT as well, right? It would just require a routed access panel I believe.

Alessandro, I notice at least 1 missing brace. See the red area along the path to the mouth.
