It has the same specs as my Galaxy CM-140 for less than half the price. If you need/want an SPL meter it seems to be a good deal.

I have this app for my iPhone and iPad (same license). It is great. RTA and SPL. Prices vary depending on which options you want. But the basics are excellant and come in around $50.

What I installed on my android. Really nicely done.

Although the apps have some nice features, I don't think the internal mics on your phone or tablet could accurately measure SPL to 130 dB +/- 1.5 dB like the handheld ones can.

the bad thing is that the mic in the cellphones can be clipped easily
when i tried to snap some video with my android cell, on some live band thing
the audio come pretty distorted and it the volume was loud but not ear bleed level

Did you follow the iPhone/iPad link? There's an external reference mic available to plug into the Apple port. And also an A/D box for input of YOUR reference mic, complete with phantom power for your condenser. And now the AudioTools app includes the SMAART option (for $50 tho).

But the digital meter with the internal (phone) mic works great for field measurements. I always monitor the worship levels to keep it below geriatric overload thresholds. I typically run 98 to 103 dB and that's quite acceptable for most.

I'm not trying to imply that it's the only smart phone app that's available, or even imply it's the best. It's simply the one I own.

And I do have an analog SPL meter as well. But I don't use it anymore. My phone's simply much more handy.

Hey LeLand, that link you provided is for the same toolset too, simply coded for the Android operating system. Good call. It's a great field app for any (and all) sound tech's. Thanks for the link.

Dunno how high it will go. All I've done so far is play with it. I know Steve Regier downloaded it and discovered his Android is high passed at 80hz. I have a Atrix 2, great phone, we'll see how it does as an rta.
