Jack 210 with the worst supporting PA equipment ever.

#1 Post by cheapbasslovin »

I built my Jack 210 about a year ago and used it for a while as a bass cabinet, which it did pretty well, but since I have three kids and no time in my life I never got it out to a gig.

Recently our youth soccer club had our jamboree and we weren't allowed to use the schools PA like we usually do. I volunteered my super pro setup of Samson R11> Alesis Micromix6> Behringer 3102> Peavey Alphabass> Jack 210, and I'll be damned if our sound wasn't the best we've had in the 5 years I've been a part of the jamboree. As long as the people speaking stayed remotely close to the polar pattern of the mic it was really easy to hear from just about anywhere in the soccer field area. I expected there to be some trouble out on the end of the pitch, but there were no problems at all.

Thanks Bill and everyone for getting me through my build. It really paid off at this event.

Good to hear...

Did you do only voice through your PA, and then bass through your 212. Or did you use the 212 as part as the PA system?
Life is just a game, don't take it to seriously!

I built it as a bass cab with no tweets, but threw a flat array on it when I found out I'd be using it for PA duty. I ran from my Micromix to the EQ (which I barely had to adjust for spoken word stuff) and into the effects return of my bass amp, since I don't have a sufficient power amp for such an event.

At the jamboree I only used it for public address and not for music, I didn't have time to set up a ducker or get all the right connections to hook my phone up and use Pandora. If I use it next year, I'll try to get that set up (and then make all the kids beg for mercy by running the traditional jazz station :cowboy: ).

We've never had music at our jamboree so it wasn't like it was missed, but this was the first time I've been able to understand a damn thing coming out of the speakers at our jamboree without being within 30ft of the speakers. It was nice.

So I just heard an Electro Voice system with a pair of 12s on the same field and...thanks, Bill. My faith in your speakers is absolute.
