I totally agree. My first "car" was a Chevy LUV truck which turned into a 73 Nova, then a 56 Chevy truck, a 67 Camaro (with only 42,000 miles), then a 72 Nova with a 468 big block, solid lifter cam, 4:10 posi rear end, B&M turbo 400, McCreary dirt track tires (WAY sticky!), etc.Bruce Weldy wrote:DJ Higgumz wrote:Still a Subaru, so it's still bad ass!
God, I'm getting old.![]()
No offense, but.....
When I was in high school, you'd walk before driving a Subaru......granted you drove pretty much what you could, but the only cars that got tricked out were Camaros, Firebirds, Mustangs, GTOs, Chargers, Challengers, and Corvettes.....(and the occasional Olds 442)
Man, times have changed.
You are now officially - an old fart.67baja wrote:I totally agree. <Shameful> Now I drive an Escape Hybrid. Where did my testosterone go? <end Shame>
I did have a VW that would give *MOST* new Subarus a run for there money though. For real.
I did stage 2 at about 75K miles and had to replace the shortblock at ~150K miles due to a spun rod bearing. I could make a HUGE list of all of the parts I've had to replace over the years. Most people would have sold it by now, but I have too much fun driving it to sell it (and the fact that it's been paid off for years doesn't hurt).bassmonster wrote:Stage 2 and 165K miles? Wow these things really do keep on going. Good looking stance and nice wheels too.
It's the original 5MT. I think they got a bad reputation from idiots who dumped the clutch with high revs from a stop. I've always beat on mine pretty hard without any issues.bassmonster wrote:Is it a manual? If so how many 5MT trannies have you gone through? The Subaru 5MT "glassbox" doesn't like much of anything over stock power. However, the STi 6MT is excellent and can handle somewhere around 600hp.
Good sounding exhaust, wish mine had the good "rumble", 06+ N/A Foresters have EL headers which don't give the rumble like the UELs on other Subies.
