Well I was looking forward to ordering all the components for the dr200's I was getting started on when mother nature planned otherwise.
This was a three show weekend that should have paid off pretty well for me. Right after setting up for our Saturday show we started to get some rain. We still had awhile before needing to start and promptly got everything under tarps. The rain moved out quickly and we uncovered everything to discover the tarp over the board and rack had been leaking. Picking up one end of the board we poured out about a half gallon of water! Without a spare board we dried everything as well as possible and hoped for the best. Everything operated normally save for the mute switches popping loudly. With about twenty minutes to go on a three hour show reality caught up. The entire system roared out the equivalent sound of a giant arc welder. This was the death cry of my yamaha board.
I have made arrangements to order the Allen & Heath GL I was planning on buying after the first of the year. Just wish it hadn't been at the cost of my old board.

Better buy a small tent to go with tha A&H.

Bad thing is I normally am under a tent but the layout of the site was such that I couldn't use it.
Thinking about buying an old used cheap board to set up in situations when I am at risk. I might have to work a little harder and give up some quality in sound but it is better than killing good equipment and doesn't come up that often.

Bummer man. My mixer recently got totally rained on, no gigs for two weeks, so it just dried out and seems to be OK now.

Still bummed about the Yamaha but this helps A LOT!

uh huh, I get the gist of that comment, my wife just tells me to efff off (she was raised as a central Queensland cowgirl). My usual response is no worries pretty c (can't say that word here)

Open that yammy up, let it dry right out, and start poking around! With any luck it's just a couple of caps in the power supply...
If you can get it running again, maybe palm it off and fund your DR build that way!

Been away for awhile but finally got around to fixing the board. Rather I had it fixed as it exceeded my abilities. Ended up replacing most everything in one channel then had to have entire sum and output board replaced. Everything was repaired, board cleaned inside and out and total bill was only 180 bucks from a registered (Yamaha licensed) repair shop. Can't complain at all about the cost. I wouldn't have sold this board without having it repaired and reconditioned properly. Just not something I can do in good conscience as I have been burned myself over the years by dodgy repairs.

On a side note the A&H is absolutely beautiful. Rich, clean sound and very easy to manage.

A&H Mixers are mostly modular
you can swap a channel board anytime without disturbing adjacent channels, on mackies and other ones
ch 1-8 or 1-12 are on a big board
you need to remove all of the channels screws and knobs to remove it.... Arggggggg
