I don't think the 3.0 version is released yet. It is basically the peavey 300dsp with a bigger cap, true voltage limiter and ability to manage settings via usb. I am looking at these as well.

so basically it will be extremely suitable for subs (bigger cap) vs the peavy?

and omg... the thru signal is switchable between pre and post dsp.

I have emailed crest 2x for a manual...no response.

It looks like they are out but no real world reviews. I tested a Peavey IPR DSP3000 on subs this weekend, sounded great so I'm sure the Crest would be equally as good. I would love to know what the voltage swing is on the Crest since all my drivers top out @ 60v. :)

I was also looking into the Behringer NU6000DSP ($499 online) which makes up for the lack of limiter on the Peavey IPR. You can download their dsp software and it appears it can be limited by Volts.

The only downsides (outside of actually hearing it) is it doesn't appear to be 2 ohm capable which is interesting because the 3000 series is. Looks like the 6000 is actually two bridged 3000 series in one box.

I do see where they've tested the 3000 series and it's a little low to be driving premium sub drivers topping @ 50v with no loads.

I also see is it does not have a line level output to pass signal to another amp. :(

I wish that Peavey DSP IPR3000 had a better limiter in it!

Just put a pigtail on the first connection to run to the next amp. A little wire, a little solder.....

Of course, if you are using regular mic cable - it's hard to make it fit in the connectors. It's best to use install cable inside the rack as it's smaller and easier to work with.....not to mention cheaper.

When I (rarely) have to do this, I use a 1/4" to 1/4" TRS (since my small mixer has 1/4" outs), a 1/4" female TRS to 2x 1/4" female TRS splitter, and a pair of short 1/4" TRS to XLR patch cables to the amps.

The DDT circuit in the IPR3000s is effectively a 59v limiter. I have 3 IPR3000s and 5 IPR1600s (one is missing in the pic) :)

I agree that the DSP in the IPR3000DSP is lacking, but given the price difference, you can pair the standard versions with an outboard processor and have a great system.

Ipr 3000 dsp and soon to be released d-fend could become the new winning ticket. ;)

Is that ddt circuitry brickwall? 1v doesn't seem like much margin for error, of course there's always the attenuators.

1v below the recommended threshold isn't likely to be the straw that breaks backs. Every little deviation from ideal affects excursion. The horn is never precisely as modeled, the temperature isn't always exactly 25C, the voice coil isn't cold after an hour of playing, etc...

That's probably why the limit is set for Xlim / Xmax and not Xmech.

I haven't been able to get it to go past 59v with either constant tones or short pulses. It does seem to be brickwall. Further, it seems to act more as an RMS limiter than a limiter that clips the signal... there are no nasty artifacts even when full on into the DDT circuit. It's very musical... just sounds like a nicely compressed signal. This is good for speaker protection, because it limits power along with voltage... if your run hard into DDT the power under the curve won't rise as quickly as other limiters.

I spoke with a Crest rep today. I was told the 2.0 is available now, the 3.0 will not be available for another month and the 2.0/3.0 dsp models will not go out until after the first of the year.

My Pro-Lite 3.0 was supposed to ship yesterday. It didn't. I'm starting to suspect these are vaporware.
