Hi! I'm looking for a lightweight amp that can handle 2 ohm, 220v (I'm from Ukraine). I was interested in Crown XTI, but I've just found this link http://forums.peavey.com/viewtopic.php?p=151739#p151739. Maybe somebody can confirm that?

hi x-mad,
we have 240V here.
One of the local guys from this forum ordered a crown amp in from the states, and specified a 240v model when ordering, and that's what he got...

I wouldn't go poking around with jumpers and other stuff in a power amp. Peavey IPR amps can be bought in Europe as well. Then you will have a model that was built for and qualified to run safely on 220-240V 50hz.
E.g.: http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_ipr_1600.htm

As for the transformer option in the thread you linked to: sounds like putting the horse behind the cart. Buying one of these super lightweight switch mode amp, then lug around a huge transformer in order to run it on a different voltage. In that case you might as well just buy good old iron right away - cheap as chips these days.

Yeah, I know about Thomann, but even new amp from US will cost less, then buying it from Thomann :cussing:
Transformer option from that thread isn't option at all for me.
Where can I find 240v version of IPR in the US?

Look out for the best price you can find on the standard US version on US sites, and send them a message asking if they can get the 240V version...

That peavey forum thread indicated it's possible to change jumper, but nothing about the fuse. Try digging some more with google.

You better get the correct fuse. As it is the original fuse will not provide protection until more than double the acceptable current is flowing. By then it could be on fire, or at least toasting much more of the amp.

Yeah, I've changed the fuse also, just didn't mention about it

hows the converted amp going? I'm considering getting one of these from the US for use in New Zealand (240v), but it's hard to find the 240v model.

My XTI-2002 just plugged straight in out of the box, like the instructions said.

So did my XTI1000, but the XTI's are exceptions. Most power amps are one voltage only (out of the box - some can be converted if you don't fear opening the box and losing the warranty).

It works flawlessly!

the xti has a switch mode power supply in it, I'm just a bit scared of the 50 -> 60hz heat buildup if the peavey isn't designed to be switched easily... anyone with a legit 240v unit in the uk (or AUS for that matter..) that can rip it open and spill some specs on the transformer inside? :)
