DR250 Build

After talking to a friend he wants me to build a DR250 and Tuba 60. I'm going to do the DR250 first. I started making saw dust yesterday (Saturday) and started gluing today.

Got the throat horn started and found out that the table saw is out of alignment. Part of the problem was the design of the blade angle needle or the blade depth adjusting wheel. You you can see in the photo what I'm talking about. Along with mistakes of my own. Wrong sides cut mostly.

Made another set of throat horn sides and supports after making adjustments to the saw. Parts fit together for a tight fit.

Tomorrow will be another day. Tedward

Any particular reason you're building the old design instead of the new?

I think the old design is an easier build.

The plans I'm following for the build were furnished by my friend from his CD that he purchesed last fall.

Thanks Harley, the pics don't show the whole garage, like the floor. I do clean up at the end of the day so my wife can pull her car in at night.

Next up is building the tweeter array.

The plans say....

This loudspeaker design is copyright protected by the author and as such is offered for the personal use of the original purchaser only. The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to five years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.

In all fairness, sending Bill payment for his plans would be ethical, moral, and legal.

Hold you fire gentlemen. The way I read the first post from Tedward in this thread he is building this for his friend, supposedly the buyer of the plans. Apologies if I'm mistaking.

If that's the case, then I stand corrected. Not shooting any arrows, just pointing out that it's worth $15 to give the man his due for his property. Looking at the first post - you very well may be right. If so, my apologies.

If that's not the case, I'm sure it wasn't intentional or he wouldn't have come right out and said it on the forum.

Ok, for the sake of all fairness I'll purchase my own set of plans. That way everything will be legal and there wont be anymore misunderstanding. I had no intention of ripping anybody off. If I crossed any lines my mistake I'm sorry.

I thought that if I posted the build it might help others. I guess I was wrong because I'm being questioned more about legal issues than the building process.

Before you jump in and buy plans Tedward, just wait up. I'm sure Bill will chime in to clarify.
The way I read it, you're building on a friends behalf and he has bought plans, so no drama.
Owning the plans does not mean you have to be the builder IMO

I enjoy your build threads I've seen so far...

Plans are sold for personal use. Building cabs for friends, family and charity is fine. Sharing plans with someone else is borderline, the penalties are the same as for file sharing. As long as it's between friends I leave it up to each individual to do what you think is right for your own situation.

I, for one, would rather you not go. DR200s are next on my list -- I had to build some easier stuff first to work on my skills. I'm still a bit intimidated by the complexity, so I appreciate seeing your progress to get a better idea of what I should be prepared for.

Don't mind the mob. :cowboy: Everyone is just protective of Uncle Bill. You can understand why -- the product performs, the plans are thorough, the designer is willing to help, and provides the forum. $15 for the plans is a bargain, the terms are more than fair, and he deserves to make his living -- especially when it benefits us as well. So when anyone has reason to believe rights are being violated, the villagers are quick to remind. I think there are plans on the CD for DIY torches and pitchforks -- those are free. (It's cheaper than lawyers.)

Anyway, just a misunderstanding, everything's cool.
