Hey,

How long does this take to dry?

Will it stick to PL?

Thanks!

Donny

Reason I was asking about dry time is I got a last minute call for a swanky job and I've still not been able to put any Duratex on any of the boxes. The Otops are decent, but the 18" Tubas are really beat up and the 26" Tubas still have no finish at all. I may aim for just covering them with sheets again to get through this one job.

In a dry, warm and ventilated room it dries 30-60minutes.. Fully hardened after 7 days.. Put on a fast coat, if youre careful it's fine :)

Tenaciously to joint areas where you've scraped the excess away with a chisel, exposing the tiny air bubble matrix that forms when PL cures. But not well to glossy patches, so sand the cab with 40 or 60 grit discs to eliminate those. 24 hours is adequate for a good cure if you leave the cab out in the sun so it can get hot.

Wow...I'm really impressed with the Duratex. I started grinding and sanding a few spots on all the boxes this morning at about 10 AM. By 3 PM all six boxes had two coats as I was painting them out in the sunshine. It's very impressive how far one gallon can go. This was two 18" and two 26" T30's and two OT12's. Only thing that didn't get a coat was the mouth on the OT12's and 18" T30's as those were already black and I was running low on time and paint, but I think I've may have enough to finish those later. The finish seems to resist dust really well, unlike the flat black paint that's been on them. The boxes look and feel so much better now. They were dried in time to load in the trailer at 5 PM and gig at 7 PM.

Ahhh, when you asked about stacking and said you were worried about scratches, I wondered why... hadn't been Duratex'd yet.
Oh well, fear no longer!

Yeah...I didn't get to Vplate last evening because it just seemed like too much for the room visually, so I didn't have a chance to see how they would slide then lock with the chevron corners. Probably wouldn't hurt to let them cure some more too before I try that. The next scheduled gig is in two weeks, also a really nice wedding reception hall. I've still got a spot or two that needs touching up, but I'm really happy with the glossiness and hardness of the finish.
