I just glued in the last set of braces on the 1st of 4 T39s.

I almost cried with joy. Now one more set of braces and I will finish off these 2, and do the last 2 this fall.

I hope the DRs go faster. Way fewer pieces.

I know the feeling, just set the last two braces on two of my Tuba 30's last night, just a few more steps on the other two and then hours of sanding, prepping and finishing. Hope they sound good for you.

Did you forget the prebuilt piezo arrays you sold me?

OK, now I've had my sandwich. Back to business.

It's a great feeling to get to that last set of braces. Well done!

Makes you want them finished tomorrow though...

I found something new to hate: bondo.

It dries to uselessness in a few minutes.

Put in less hardener and it never dries.

Packs up in sandpaper faster than a politicians reflex to make a promise he can't keep.

Spent 3 hours yesterday filling holes in one cab, and had to scrape it all off and do it over.

Use the bondo spot putty in a tube. No mixing, right consistency, dries fast, no problems....

Cool. Just ordered a tube from Amazon w/ free shipping for $5.99. I would go to the parts store but not willing to get ripped off again.

I'll work on the DRs for a few days ...

Heh, that tube got emptied fast. Ordered a six pack of the same stuff, for less than $5 a tube.

Works much better than the 2 part stuff.

The spot putty does not like big holes and gaps. Too thick and it won't dry correctly. You'll have to do it in layers on those.

Been working on the DR200s. I finished the router template for the baffle and sawed the baffles to size yesterday. I took detailed pix of the process for router template and will post a little tutorial. A jigsaw might be faster but a router does a cleaner job in a little more time.

Tonight my drivers will be done breaking in. I did all 4 at the same time, 2 per channel wired in opposite polarity on one of my amps. Nearly silent, once I closed the door on the room I couldn't hear a thing.

I think I will also clean up edges of the access panel openings with the router and cut new access panels though, on account that the lip that the access panel sits on is a bit narrow (I call it 5/8") on the long sides. I'm also gluing in little blocks of ply where the H-nuts will go to give them a little bit more purchase (it's only 3/8" ply).

So I have a question:

I should be ready to start leak testing tomorrow. :hyper:

Where can I get a tube to use for that inexpensively and quickly?
