Build time for 4 DR250's

#1 Post by mobetter »

Does anyone have an estimate build time to complete 4 Dr 250's, I understand that it depends on the tools you have and the level experience you have. I have a table saw and most power tools available. and my wood working skills are good. I also know that the use of jigs could also help. I've only have 2 t-48's and 1 t39 under my belt so far as BFM designs go.
I had planned on getting these done months ago but got sent out of town for work. Now that I'm back our band is starting to pick up and i need to get these done. we've been playing some regular outdoor shows and the carvin tops we have been using can't keep up with the 2 t48s.

2 T-48

Uh no. Unless you're completely jigged up and have some experience.

I've done lots of DR's. And have the jigs. I figure 16-20hrs start to finish. That's finished, done nothing left to do. Maybe the new ones are faster, but I doubt it.

The DR's are very intimidating to me...but I've only built six easy boxes.

I can only recall seeing your PVC pipe cutting jig, and I know you would have jigs for cutting piezos. Which other jigs would you use for a DR?

Assembly jigs for the horn throats and baffle throat assembly. Plus I built them a little differently than the actual plans. It was a quicker method that burned a lot of plywood. All pretty much invalidated now by the new design.

Sorry I did only mean the woodwork bit and I do have a well stocked shop. Handles, corners, painting, etc just runs away with time.

I do like the new design. Looks easier for a newb like me.

4 x DR200 took me around 120 hours. That's everything from the first trip to the store for wood all the way to a cab ready to stick on a pole at a gig. It includes jig construction time.

YMMV depending on the level of fit and finish you want. I'm a bit picky about sanding, filling, painting, etc.
