Crown XTI 2000 Issues

I'm having a little trouble with my XTI 2000. When I turn it on, it goes through the motions of getting ready but after about 7-10 seconds it just shuts off. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue? I plan on taking it in for repair sometime this week. Hopefully its not a very costly repair.

Check the serial numbers and manufacturing date. It may still be under warranty! Crown did offer a six year warranty on the XTi series amps.

That would be good for me it was still 6 years. Unfortunately they changed it, the Crown Site says 3 years no fault as of 12/08.

I've had issues of cycling then sitting in protect mode on both 2000 & 4000.
I took the top panel off and pulled out and reseated the fuse.
Fixed the problem. I would try that and see if anything changes. While the top is off make sure the ribbon cables are securely seated and you have no fur build up any where.
Good luck.

I checked the fuse last night. I took the fuse out of another xti and put it into it and still nothing changed. I only saw one ribbon connection and it was secure. I just hope its something simple. Luckily, I can get by without it until July.

Contact them anyway. They may offer to repair, if only for the cost of postage.

I got my Amp back from repair last week. Some components of the kick start circuit in the small power supply were out of tolerance according to the Technician. Hit me for $253. Ouch. I guess that is still cheaper than buying another amp which I was about to do. My XTI 1000 started having issues with a channel going out. Turns out it has a bad ribbon connector. Got hit for another $200 on that one. Will pick it up next week. When it rains it pours

....LOL!!! Hopefully my third amp(XTI 1000) doesn't catch what the other two caught.....

They sure charged you a pretty penny for those repairs...sounds like I will be avoiding crown amps. Hope you don't have any more problems.

I have a pair of XTi1000 amps that have at least 100 gigs on them, and have not had a single issue.

You're going to avoid them?
Is there any brand without some fault?
I'd hate to be the bean counter that said how many Crown (or any other reputable brand) amps had been produced over the years without fault.
When it comes to power supplies in amps, clean power produces minimal problems. When you're at the end of the line trying to get sufficient juice, amps, and most particularly the power supply, struggle.
There are so many reasons way beyond the manufacturers control that amps fail.
It's rarely the amp brand (though some are a touch worse than others), it's the conditions they have to endure more often than not...

My XTi2000's will drop 1 channel intermittently if they sit for 3+ weeks unplugged. If I reload the firmware the problem goes away.
If you didn't unplug and reseat the ribbon connectors, do it before you take them in for service.
