Routers!

Yeehaww - RRT - Router Round-up Time :cowboy: The result of a little tidy up of the power tool cabinet.

Image

Just about a router for every task and bit. The two Ryobis on the right have follower collars which have turned out to be inaccurate and a bit of a disaster, so I have to take the plates off them and assign them another task.

The 1/2" collar Makita at the back and its Chinese knock off to the left of it are also unreliable as no matter how much I tighten the bits and put expensive sleeves in them, they drop the drop a bit down by as much as 2mm over a 1/2 period when operating - therefore the 1/2" routers never get used.

So my work horses are the el cheapo Cobras in the middle, the Ryobi with the Jasper Jig and the other Ryobi with my favourite cab trimming and routing bits ( to the left ).

I bought these over the years when there's been a special on so I've spent no more than $NZ 750 ( $US 585 ) on all those tools there

I'm researching routers at the moment. Interesting is the fact that you favour the Ryobis as they are not a big hit on price. Over here in the Uk, Trend (and its brother Freud) seem to be well regarded.

I know I need 1/2" but would anyone in the Uk care to recommend anything in terms of motor wattage, brand, reliability? Anything I should avoid? I know black and decker is to be avoided.

Holy Moly!

I just got back home where the VPN actually allows images to download. (Earlier today just could read text.)

Looks like R2D2 has been on the Viagra!

Bet he's got a big, er, bit.

I'm gonna feed mine some see if the same thing happens...

Why waste time when you can have a router for each bit
