Paint and finish ideas

As i am going though my dr and tuba build, I'm thinking ahead to when i will paint them.
Without being specific i'm concerned that even though my paint and finish ideas would look cool and make the cab's stand out, that i would sacrifice them not looking "professional" becasue they wouldn't be all black.
Has anyone experienced this problem?

My Jack12 pair is dark metallic blue with 3 coats of clear. I keep those for myself. Everything I try to sell is black Duratex.

As well as Turbo you also have Funktion One, Void and L'Acoustics using colours other than black. As long as the finish is applied well I reckon it will look professional!

Go with black. Black disappears into backgrounds, hides a plethora of build errors, and is easier to touch up after the fact.
All the non-black brands listed above are brands that have invested a significant amount of money into creating a brand image that allows them to charge WAY more than their speakers are worth. I think it's only natural that they have distinctive cabinet finish colors. It allows the suckers that spend top dollar on one of those systems to feel good about their purchase because tey can easily show it off to other people. "Oooooh - this club has a funktion one system!"
I don't think BFMs fall into that category, and I, for one, listen with my ears, not my eyes. so black it is.

+1...
You want your speakers to look pro and black is pro. I have seen some really great twists that I think would still work and give you a little "unique" flavor - the dark blue melded array comes to mind. Looked really sharp, but not flashy.
But please do not back light your horns with led lights.

I put spinners on my subs' casters......makes 'em look like there moving when they're sitting still - cool.......

Good Idea Bruce!
Also, if you mount the top hat off to one side it gives them street credit.

Maybe a little bling hanging on the OTops?
Well, back to the thread.....
Just like a hot babe on a date - you can never go wrong with basic black.

DuraTex can be ordered any color you want. Just make sure you keep the unused portion of the can for touch-ups and light re-sprays, to keep them looking like new.
Personally, I like some colored cabs. Accent colors can look cool, and solid colors can look good, too. IMO, a particular good reason for colors is recognition. If you have a logo and/or color scheme that you use in your advertising, likewise colored cabs could help to reinforce your image.
Long fur or glitter vinyl covered cabs could help add to that whole "tacky but chic" image of a funk band, but they'd definately be out of place in a country & western dance hall.
White cabs look kewl!

If I put hydraulics on my subs to pop them up, will it cause problems with boundary coupling?
Also I hear having a gold "grill" is the way to roll, and that would work great on the front of some speakers!

Do we order the colored Duratex through Leland or do we have to order it from somewhere else?

Colored duratex needs to come direct from AcryTech. Call me Henry Ford, black only.

For custom colored Duratex, does anyone know how long it takes to receive?
