I'm currently saving for a pair of E25s but just for s**ts and grins check the E90!! 16,400w @ 4 ohms.....

Thoughts? Opinions?

A chap by the name of Einstein long ago rendered that possibility to the rubbish heap. The amp draws roughly 1300 watts, so even with an impossible 100% efficiency that's all it can deliver on a continuous basis. Google 'Law of conservation of energy'. Otherwise we'd all be using these magic devices to heat and light our homes.

They aren't magic just VERY expensive. Hell a USED E25 is $1.7k. These are the FERRARI of amps. Maybe I am coming at this wrong as I have no intention of questioning or challenging your experience and wisdom. I simply do not understand what is so magical about a 16,400w load @ 4ohms (besides the fact you prob need a dedicated 50A outlet)

*I am familiar with this law as I work with electronics for a living it is similar to an alchemist law. I even googled it like you recommended just to be sure I at-least remembered what it was (equivalent exchange). But I still do not understand why you said this is not possible.

The spec sheet states that the E90 draws 11.2 Amps on 120 Volts. By my book, that's roughly 1300 Watts.

Read the description again. They are capable of reaching high power peaks! The quoted power specs are nothing more than bloated peak power spikes. Utter rubbish. Don't believe us? Put a RMS VAC meter to one and put some sine tones into it. I'll bet you get a maximum RMS of 10% of the claimed power.

I'll take a proven technology over hyperbole any day of the week.
If you're going to drop serious coin on an amp, I'd go for the Crown i-Tech, or the QSC PL series. That's what the pros use when they go on tour. (Or Lab Gruppen, but that stuff is WAY overpriced.)

ah...Thank you for your input. I will not be spending money on a company that touts peaks like its a constant....I thought that was USABLE power. Thank you for clearing that up....damn...I really thought I found something special.

They may not be able to put out that power but I can tell you that both MC2 and FFA amps sound great and are some of my favourites. I may be biased with the amount of Funktion One I work with, though...

I have no doubt that the MC2 and FFA amps have a great sound, but past a certain point as long as they can deliver the power without adding in anything that wasn't there before it got to the amplifier inputs an amp is an amp is an amp. I prefer to put money into a track record of performance and reliability rather than a name that commands top dollar.
There is definitely a difference between a Ferrari, a Corvette, and a Honda, but if I'm just going to be driving to and from work every day, the only real differences between a $30k car and a $130k car is the looks I get from everyone else (which I just don't care about), and the cost. And remember, the cost is not just the purchase cost, but the cost of maintenance, insurance, repairs, etc.

I couldn't agree with you more on that matter. I'm lucky with the fact I get to work with other people's kit. I sometimes forget costs!
