Power Issue

I have the XLS1500 powering my two Lab15 T48s until i can afford the IPR4500. should i run them underpowered @8ohms @300w or should I risk bridging to get all my juice?
Im open for any other suggestions (when i get my IPR4500 im gonna use the XLS for my Tops)

How much voltage are they getting? if the amp delivers their voltage limit there's nothing to be gained by bridging. You don't bridge for more power, you bridge for more voltage swing.

You should already know from setting your limiter.

dont have one, but i did read the thread about amp voltage... i should be giving them 60v

The absolute last thing you want to do is run bridged without knowing the voltage that the amp is capable of, or to run without a limiter. One blown driver far exceeds the cost of a limiter and the voltmeter you need to set it.

Tell me if i undertand this correctly..
Power isnt what damages speakers, its voltage. Its good to get an amp with headroom because you can get more power with less voltage which could possibly damage your speakers??
Sorry, but a lot of these concepts are new to me...

No, power damages drivers. But there's no way to limit the power output of an amp, because you can't measure it. You can measure and therefore limit voltage, so that's what you do.

Gotcha! thanks Bill, so i should just settle with running them at half power until i can get a new amp i guess...
