I picked up a deq2496 used. It is seemingly sporadically dropping the sound out of either one or both channels. It's not showing any errors and everything looks normal on the screen.

Another symptom is sometimes I only use the right channel for when my kids are watching a movie, and when I turn it back to kick the left channel in, it doesn't.

One time before I realized what was going on, and it happened, I threw the master all the way up and it kicked back on, blasting the house with the o10.5's, and almost causd a few messes from family members.

As soon as I turn the power off on it, I have sound. Turn it back on and works for a little bit, and then it happens again.

Besides upgrading the firmware, and restoring factory settings, has anyone seen anything like this with one of these before, and have any other ideas?

Are you using the optical I/O? May be a loose toslink connector. Otherwise, the unit may have a short or loose solder on the pcb. Just make sure it isn't a cable or some other device causing the break first.

Check the date code on the top of the box, if its less than a year and a half old then ask the original owner if he ever registered the unit for warranty. He may still have the receipt, just send it for warranty.

I did this for a DCX two weeks ago, turns out Behringer is out of warranty stock for DEQ's and DCX's so they offered to replace my DCX with any other Behringer product of relative value. I was curious about the EPX3000 so I asked if I could get one in return....received a brand new EPX3000 in the mail 3 days later.

SWEEEEEEEET!, The amp goes for $400 and I can get a new DCX for $250-$300! So it worked out nice.


Moral of the story, try to get the unit covered under warranty.

I had a problem with the deq dropping audio when I sent it a 24 / 96 signal. I switched to /48 and it was fine.
